I’ve been going to Alternative Health Associates for nearly 20 years. From laser hair removal, facials, hot stone massages, teen facials for my daughters….they are always friendly, professional and lovely in person and on the phone. I just never have any reason to try anywhere else so I go to them for everything! You know you’ve found the right place when you’re excited to catch up with your esthetician…even when she’s zapping you with the laser. Deidra is amazing at what she does! Wonderful business, kind people and fair pricing. Great location in Old Town but far enough from King Street so that parking is not a big issue. Highly recommend!

I travel about an hour and a half to get here from NW DC on the train and it’s worth it. Effective treatments and everyone is always lovely, honest and professional. Especially love Maureen. She is extremely kind and does excellent work.

An amazing first experience with Vanessa, who came highly recommended by a friend. She spent time talking to me and helping me figure out what the best treatment would be for what I wanted to achieve. She is also very honest and gave me some wonderful recommendations on other products that would be helpful for me personally without pushing anything sold there. The experience itself was awesome and my face looked phenomenal and glowing afterwards!

I’ve had 2 electrolysis sessions with Maureen and I am beyond impressed with my results so far. There has been slowed hair regrowth or non at all. She is gentle with her technique and she really takes her time meticulously focusing on the treatment area. The sessions are relaxing and painless, more of a slight prick to my skin. I’m happy that I made the decision to start this process.

I have been going to Alternative Health since I moved to VA over 3 years ago and have had nothing but positive and relaxing experiences every visit. Ill admit that I have explored other med spas throughout this time, just to be sure I was doing my research on what’s out there, but I found that other med spas were more on focused on being trendy, flashy and selling you on additional, unnecessary services. AHA been consistent with their outstanding service, offerings and promotions and the atmosphere is relaxing, private and welcoming.
I visited AHA last week and had Serenna (Nurse Practitioner/co-owner) as my nurse injector. I was really nervous for face fillers but Serenna listened to my concerns and kept me informed and relaxed throughout the session. The filler results were immediate and left me speechless with how much they improved my face without looking like I was pumped full of injectables.
Thank you Serenna and Alternative Health for another great experience. You definitely set yourself apart from other “med spas” and I cannot wait to get back in for other services!

I'm getting laser hair and electrolysis treatments here with Deidra, and I have nothing but positive things to say. First of all, the entire business is super Trans friendly. Deidra herself is super nice and makes your entire time there feel relaxed and chill. On top of that I've seen awesome results so far. I can't recommend this place (and Deidra!) enough, especially for Trans folks who are looking for great results in hair removal!
